Membership Blitz Ends Dec. 15!

From finding the courage to raise her hand to rappeling down a cliff, Girl Scouts provides a safe place for girls to take chances and try new things, which will help her succeed in school, her career, and life. In fact, in a recent survey, 78% of girls said they were more willing to face their fears and take on new experiences. Supportive adult mentors help provide Girl Scouts with the tools they need to do more! 

The new Girl Scout year started October 1 - if you still haven't signed up, there is still time to be included in our Membership Blitz drawing for a $20 gift card to GSSI's Council Shop.  (If you registered previously, there were other incentives for those time periods). 

All you have to do is register yourself or your daughter to be an official member of Girl Scouts by Dec. 15!  The final gift card recipient will be drawn on Dec. 20.

Joan Burke Named Director of Membership

GSSI is pleased to announce that Joan Burke is the new Director of Membership. Joan has an extensive Girl Scout background -she joined as a Brownie (the first level available at the time) and was a member all the way through. After college, she became a Girl Scout staff member and worked at three different councils over 12 years. After taking a break to have a family, she returned to GSSI two years ago as a Membership Development Manager.

“I am excited to become Director of Membership. I have been in Girl Scouting practically all my life,” Burke said. “Girl Scouting is a great place for girls to try new things, learn life skills and just have fun! I am looking forward to sharing my positive energy in a new role with GSSI!”

 

Register Online through EBiz through June 30 for Early Bird Incentives

We are extending Early Bird re-registration incentives!  Choose the incentive that works best for your girl, troop and leaders and then be sure to re-register within the dates listed below!  

Register online on or before June 30, 2014 and become eligible to receive the following incentives: 

TROOP

FREE Early Bird Patch if you meet all of the following criteria:  

Turn in your Membership Registrations to your Service Unit Registrar on or before June 30, 2014 at 5 p.m.

Re-register on-line at least 50% of current girls (if you lose a girl, you can recruit/add a new girl and receive the same benefits if done during this period only)

Register on-line at least 5 girls and 2 adults

Have no product program sale debt (troop, leader or parent).  NOTE: Troops still qualify if debt is paid before Early Bird deadline.  

NOTE:  If requesting Financial Assistance, a paper registration must be submitted for processing.

TROOP

Earn entry into a drawing for one of 2 (two) Complementary GSSI Vouchers (can be used for GSSI programs, store, training, camp and any GSSI option) valued at $50 each.  

LEADERS

Primary (01) Troop Leader receives FREE registration ($15 value) (You must re-register a minimum of 85% of your troop and 2 adults) 

NOTE:  To receive this incentive, you must submit an Ebiz receipt confirming you met the above criteria with your registration for a 

free troop leader.

SERVICE UNITS

GSSI Voucher (good for any GSSI program or for GSSI shop) if you meet the following criteria:

Service Units with 45-49% re-registered girls will receive $50 GSSI all council voucher!!!

Service Units with 50-69% re-registered girls will receive $100 GSSI all council voucher!!!

Service Unitswith 70-89% re-registered girls will receive $150 GSSI all council voucher!!!

Service Units with 90% and above re-registered girls will receive $200 GSSI all council voucher!!! AND choice of 1 of 3 Cookie Costumes (Trefoil, Samoa and Thin Mint) for Cookie Rally or other GSSI events!!!!

March Membership Mania: Week 3

March Membership Mania is coming to a close…..hurry and submit your completed girl and adult 2014 registrations to council before 3.31.14.  Remember, in order to earn incentives for your March registrations your SU must have turned into Council completed registrations for this CURRENT year according to the number of troops you had at the start of the month.  If you want to know where you stand with your numbers, please call your MDM. 

 Here are some highlights: 

Service Units that have met their March Mania recruitment goals and are eligible to select one of the awesome incentives:

It’s not too late! You still have until March 31, 2014 to turn in completed registrations to GSSI to qualify for March Membership Mania. 

 

March Membership Mania Week 2 Update!

 

 

 

We are officially on our 2nd week of Membership March Mania fun! Here are this week's highlight results: 458 Completed Registrations received since 3.1.14 We are only 567 away from hitting this goal!

As of March 6, Service Unit 27 only needs 25 more completed registrations to hit their Service Unit incentive!

Here are some ideas that can help you reach your goal: (1) provide your MDM with the contact information of a school or community center that will let us come in and host a BFF (Be A Friend First) program. These programs often help bring in many girls who decide they want to have an ongoing connection as a Girl Scout; (2) Tell your friends, families, neighbors about the awesome opportunities available at GSSI for girls and adults and send them the registration form; (3) Pass flyers around at your church or since the weather is getting better, post a flyer at your local park and community centers. If you would like more ideas on how to promote Girl Scouts and reach your incentive goals, please contact your MDM.

Ask Membership: What If the Troop is Full and More Girls Want to Join?

Dear Membership,

I am a leader of a troop of 25 girls. I hate turning girls away because I believe that every girl should have the opportunity  to participate in Girl Scouting. While I have the parent help to be able to take on more girls I know that there are some  troops that do not and are not able to do so. What happens to the girl if a troop is full? - Girl Scouting for Everyone

Dear Girl Scouting for Everyone,

While we understand that a troop can only take on as many girls as they can manage, we do not want to see a girl turned away from Girl Scouting. In the case that a troop is full, the leader needs to inform the parent that we have other options  available and direct the parent to either the Troop Organizer Consultant (TOC), Service Unit Registrar and/or the Membership Development Manager (MDM). The leader should also contact the TOC, Service Unit Registrar and/or the MDM to give them the information for the girl. From there the TOC, Service Unit Registrar and/or the MDM will help the girl and her family explore other membership options. You are right, every girl should have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouting! If volunteers and staff work together, we can make sure it happens. - Membership
